How Bot-vs-Bot came to be

Botting

Most multiplayer games forbit botting, and rightly so. A script can “push” all the buttons in the right sequence at the right time, with better timing than a human player can ever achieve. And there is very little skill required to run a script that someone else developed just to get an edge over the other players who aren’t doing the same thing.

But what if everyone could do it? If everyone runs the same script there is no edge. The spoils would go to the player with the better script. Ultimately, to the player that has the skills to create the better script – the one who writes the best code.

And this is how the concept of Bot-vs-Bot was born.

Respecting the player's time

People pay money for this game. Why make them spend endless hours before they can enjoy it?

Grinding is common in gaming. Spending many hours doing the same thing just to level up enough to unlock the next chapter or to get geared enough to last an extra minute in PvP or simply to get that fancy chest piece that looks good on your character and has a 0.001% chance of dropping.

We want to reward both skill and effort. But we’d much rather reward the effort spent in developing the skill than the patience to try the same thing over and over again until the right piece of gear drops.

We expect that most players would attempt a mission multiple times before clearing it. But it should be possible to do it on the first try.

Have you ever spent time writing a complex piece of code, then mentally geared yourself for the inevitable debug session only to discover that everything works perfectly from the very first try? It feels like magic and it’s this feeling we want our players to experience.
